Acoustic monitoring and lightning strikes

SonicSense® Wind

Continuous acoustic monitoring and lightning strike alerts.

SonicSense® Wind doesn't replace your experts: it monitors your blades continuously from their acoustic signature, detects anomalies early, and tells you exactly which turbine was struck by lightning after a storm.

The right role

It doesn't replace your experts, it tells them where to look

An inspection is a snapshot at a single moment. Between two campaigns, an anomaly can appear and worsen unseen. SonicSense closes that blind spot: it monitors your blades continuously, from their acoustic signature, spots emerging drifts and triggers inspection in the right place, at the right time. Human expertise stays at the center, better targeted.

Acoustic signature

The blades' sound signature, tracked continuously to detect and qualify the anomaly.

24/7, all year round

No blind spot between two inspection campaigns.

Guided inspection

Your teams step in only where it's really needed, right where the field calls for it.

After the storm: identify the turbine actually struck

Detection networks only give a probable impact zone, spanning several turbines. SonicSense replaces it with certainty, turbine by turbine.

After a storm passes, pinpointing a lightning strike is nearly impossible: you get a probable zone, and you inspect many turbines "just in case." Each SonicSense sensor detects, timestamps and characterizes the strike on its own turbine. The result: you know exactly which turbines were hit, and you inspect only those.

  • Targeted inspection go only to the turbines actually hit.
  • Fewer downtimes & costs no more "just in case" preventive inspections.
  • Fast response action triggered as soon as the storm passes.

Why SonicSense®

Why choose SonicSense® for your wind farm?

Continuous tracking of your blades' sound signature

Signals tracked continuously to detect structural anomalies as early as possible — supporting human expertise without ever replacing it.

Lightning located turbine by turbine

Every strike is detected, timestamped and tied to its turbine, with a distance estimate. After the storm, you inspect only the turbines actually hit.

Zero cables & full autonomy

A 100% wireless design powered by a long-life industrial battery (up to 4 years). Immediate retrofit installation, with no impact on the turbine's electrical system.

Compatible with your farm's network infrastructure

A versatile, future-proof communication layer, built to last and adapt to your farm's infrastructure.

Native integration in Blade Manager

Sound trends and event alerts sync automatically into Cornis's unified Blade Manager platform, for single-panel asset management.

From sensor to decision, in real time

Routine operations run locally on the turbine; only qualified events reach the cloud. A continuous view of your blades' condition, without overloading your network or your teams.

Optimize noise management with acoustic monitoring.

Precise, non-intrusive inspection: preserve turbine integrity while reducing environmental impact.

Product overview & intelligence

Onboard intelligence at your experts' service

SonicSense Wind®'s onboard intelligence works for your experts. With its dual-core computing power, it continuously analyzes the acoustic stream right on the turbine: it does the groundwork, isolates whatever stands out and surfaces the signals worth watching. Your experts can then dig into the results that look problematic to them, where their expertise makes all the difference.

Intelligent filtering

The sensor isolates the blades' acoustic signature to identify the noise produced by each individual blade.

Event-driven reporting

To optimize power use, routine operations run fully on the edge; audio samples and rich alerts are sent to the cloud only when a structural-anomaly or lightning threshold is crossed.
